Yummy Day

Today’s my birthday.
It was a pretty good day, given that not much of my life changes just because it happens to be my special day.
If you are a parent, you know what I mean. I still had to feed the kids and all that jazz. Not that I minded today. They were in pretty good moods and made it easy to feel good about growing one year older.
I’ve had my birthday present for almost a full week now. The hubs, his parents, and of course my kiddos, pitched in to get me a super nice camera. I ruined our point and shoot by placing it in the diaper bag, and then stashing a sippy cup of water in there too. Funny, the two didn’t get along very well.
Needless to say, I was super stoked and have been playing with it all week. It’s kind of amazing how a good camera can make you look more capable as a photographer than you actually are and at the same time remind you you have a lot to learn. Well, at least those were my epiphanies.
Yesterday the hubs asked O what they should make to celebrate my birthday. She told him they should make me a pie. Then he asked, what kind? To which she replied, blueberry.
Blueberry.
Huh. Don’t think I have actually ever had blueberry pie.
True to her personality, she was determined that this was the kind of pie she and her dad would make.
This evening I came home from Target to find this lovely blueberry pie sittin’ on the windowsill. The hubs says he’s always wanted to do that. I found it really charming.
And when we sat down to eat it, it was really yummy. My blueberry loving children enjoyed it as well.
So I didn’t get a grand massage, or a pedicure… didn’t go out to a fancy dinner or get drinks with friends. But blueberry pie, my two favorite girls and the fabulous baker that just so happens to be my husband, a wonderful birthday does make.
